An artist who works across media, Gabriel Orozco uses photography to enact a definition of sculpture that, as he has said, “can only be seen through the photograph.” Not documents of sculptures, his photographs stage objects for the camera. Like other contemporary photographers represented in the exhibition, Orozco uses his camera to capture what are temporary arrangements of things.
On view through December 23 in the show Hybrid Images: The Photography of Sculpture, 1860 - 1990.
